The Power of Trust
Say you are a contractor, and you are building a house, and you have to proceed to the next step of the building. However, in order for this next step to work, the previous step must be just right. If you do not have any trust in your workers, you will never be confident enough to move on to this next step. You will be in a constant state of doubt that will leave you double checking constantly.
I would like to think that you get where I am going with this analogy. What really is life without trust? Dictionary.com 's definition of trust is "to rely upon or place confidence in someone or something..." There are many different aspects of our life that trust is crucial. The first one is with friends. The ultimate goal and journey of a friendship is to be able to get to know them better and better, strengthening the relationship between the two. However, trust is a crucial piece of a strong relationship. Your relationship is not strong if you do not have trust. How could it be strong if you can't rely on the other and have confidence in them and what you are expecting from them? There is no way you can have a real relationship with someone if it is not built on trust.
However, I know that many people will be thinking, well I do not want to be naive and place my trust in those who are going to take advantage of me. Although this does hold truth in some situations, I do believe in the idea that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This world is corrupt, and people are going to take advantage of you. There is simply no other way to put it. It is going to happen. But it how we respond to this that is important. We can use it to be aware of the signs that someone is not genuine with their actions and recognize them. This does not mean that we have to be mean to people like this. I have encountered many of these types of people already in my lifetime, and the best response is to be kind and courteous, but just to keep your distance.
Although trust is a hard concept to let your heart and mind develop, it is crucial. How are we going to dive deeper into our relationships with anyone in this world if we cannot trust them? You cannot live your life in fear, pondering the what ifs. You will stay stationary in your heart and in your mind. You must dig deeper, and the only way you can do this correctly is with trust.
I will be pondering the second aspect of trust, trusting the Lord, in my next blog post.
